As the saying goes, from little things, big things grow – and Graham Thomson Motors is no exception to this. The business is now housed on an impressive 2.4 hectare lot on the corner of Doyles and New Dookie Road, but started out in a shed in New Dookie Road in the 1960s. It began when Graham Thomson’s brother Bryan began selling used trucks as a partner in Ryan Equipment company. Graham then joined Bryan and prominent Shepparton cyclist, Richard Moore in the business until, in 1964, they moved to Verney Road and started Shepparton Truck Sales and Service.During the next decade, the business grew to service not only the agriculture industry, but Shepparton’s transport industry as well. To offer the district’s transport industry more choice and better service, Shepparton Truck Sales and Service took on its first truck franchise in 1972 with Volvo, Kenworth and UD franchises followed. In 1974 the company moved to purpose built premises in Numurkah Road, which served as home until the big move to its present site. Graham purchased the business from his brother Bryan in 1984 and renamed it Graham Thomson Motors.
